I've been rating stuff on a 10-point scale. More than 5 is good, less is bad. Which is stupid cause I've been dropping everything I would have rated less than 5. Anyways, I rate 9 what I think is a masterpiece, and hand out 10s to my faves, even if they suck. None of my faves suck.

I like a good cast of characters and good world-building above all, then mystery, adventure, fantasy and action.

Since hating's always easier, here it is. I hate cliché. Tropey writing, lazy storytelling, predictable comedy. I have a particular gripe with anime comedy. How's beating up the MC funny? How's high-pitch screeching funny? (Looking at you, Asta) I do love stuff like Golden Kamui and The Fable though. I don't like Harem stuff. Also, I hate melancholy and nostalgia in general, not just in anime.

I always binge-watch. Idk how you guys do it with the weekly releases. I can't stand watching 20 minutes of something and then… that's it? Couldn't be me. I'll let you guys engage in mutual hype-ups on the TL while I eagerly stare at livechart.me countdowns, out of the loop and in pain.

That's precisely why I took on reading manga. It's a cyclic lifestyle: binge all when seasons end, then read to forget the drought, repeat. This is fine.

Since we're on gripes, let's keep going.

"Peak". Both my global and following feeds have become echo chambers of that word. It literally brings nothing to the table except an ephemeral increase in social interactions between the cursed speech users that keep passing the word to each other. "Cinema" died so much quicker. Once in a while is fine, hell, funny even.

"Daily art!", or rather art reposts. Is adding credits enough to make it ok? Anyways, sprinkling the TL with eye candy sure does rake in the social points.

Lordt. I'm such an insufferable killjoy. Sorry.

I don't mind anything.

I'm not a fan of like spams for the sake of it. If I liked something, it's because I care about you or your activity. Even with like spams: I do give them back, but I try to select what to like on your profile. I want to care and I want people to care.

It's pretty much the same with follows. If you follow me, I'll investigate (/pos).

On a side note, I'm not a big fan of proudly announcing "Selective follow back" or "Don't take it personally if I unfollow". I can't help but imagine the thought process behind doing this.

I love text status and activity comments. I genuinely think they're priceless insights on the content you've consumed (recommendations-wise) and/or on yourself. They're what give Anilist, old twitter, deprecated socials and small-time socials their oomf. Meaning is good. That's what I tried to convey through those cynical scriptures above. So yeah, I'll read em.

Anyways if you really read through all this I think you're hella cool.

I only have "Watching/Reading activity" and "Repeating watching/reading activity" turned on at all times.

I disable "Planning to watch/read activity" most of the time, and I never enable "Completed anime/manga activity", "Dropped anime/manga activity", "Paused watching/reading activity".

I feel like those last 4 create mostly clutter.

Auto sync is a game changer. I've started using it in February 2026.

Sometimes I like a list progress activity but I don't check its replies because of spoilers.

I have yet to stumble upon a well-translated manhua.
